Things to do in Maine

Maine offers many amazing things to do whether its off the beaten path or in charming cities and towns, there is no shortage of activities and attractions here. Hike the mountainside during the fall and see the fiery fall colors, or go in the winter to ski. Wildlife watching is one of the favorite activites in the area. You can spot whales from the coast, or get a close-up view of them on a whale watching cruise. Birdwatchers will find themselves in a state of bliss, with all of the amazing birds in the area. 

White Mountain National Forest

Come experience the breathtaking scenery, clear mountain lakes and stream, outdoor recreation, and wildlife opportunities year round. The White Mountain National Forest also offers 1200 miles of hiking trails, 400 miles of snowmobile trails. It is nicknamed the People's Forest because it has something for everyone.

4 miles down the road from the LunaBlu Lodge. Buy your tickets online before you go out.

Mt. Abram

7 miles from the LunaBlu Lodge. Visit their website to purchase tickets in advance.

Black Mt. of Maine

26 miles from the Lodge. Come on Friday when they feature $25 Friday Lift tickets. 

Wildcat Mountain

24 miles from the Lodge. For the 2020-2021 season WildCat requires reservations. Reserve your day on their website.

Bretton Woods Ski Area

35 miles from the Lodge. Please purchase tickets before you arrive to the area on their website

Snow Shoeing and Cross-Country Skiing

Snowshoers are welcome on any trail. Carter's X-C Ski center is located on 1000 acre property along the Androscoggin River and features over 35 km of trails. Both skiers and snowshoers can enjoy these expansive trails and the views of the Presidential Range, Carter-Moriahs, and Sunday River. Bethel Village Trails

The Bethel Village Trails maintenance and preservation relies on community involvement and donations so please visit their website and donate or become involved in creating trails that connet families and friends in a healthy outdoor escape. Bethel Village Trails will open for winter activities such as snowshoeing, fat biking, and Nordic skiing, in December. There are private and group lessons available along with equipment rentals.
